AutoSIR1 Announcement

Almost a decade ago, Gen3 Systems Ltd announced the release of the AutoSIR2 system.  A driving factor behind the redesign of this piece of specialised test equipment was not only product performance and improvement but also continuing to address the industry wide issue of component obsolescence, with many of AutoSIR1 units being over 20 years of age.

Gen3 are no longer  able to support the original AutoSIR1 systems.  Our valued AutoSIR1 customers are advised to take the following factors into consideration: -

  1. AutoSIR1 faults are no longer repairable
  2. AutoSIR1 should be checked for its current calibration levels

For example, IEC61189-5 & IPC 2.6.3.7  the accuracy requirements for any measurement instrument must meet the following:

  • 5% of full scale up to 1010Ω @ 5V
  • 10% of full scale up to 1011Ω @ 5V
  • 20% of full scale above 1011Ω @ 5

Below are the results from a recent calibration assessment of an AutoSIR1 that were run using a 100V external power supply:

As can be seen, this particular machine is out of specification at 10and also at 1010.  In this scenario, a customer would be highly advised to consider purchasing a replacement AutoSIR2+, as the data from this aged machine could not be relied upon.
